Powerhouse vocals, soaring guitars, honky tonk rhythms and Muscle Shoals soul is at the heart of Funkyjenn’s musical melange.

Funkyjenn is a native daughter of the Golden West. Born in Hollywood to a show business family, she cut her teeth in musical theater, songwriter demo tapes and background vocals for many LA bands before writing her own material. As a young child, Funkyjenn literally grew up on the soundstage of Dick Clark’s “American Bandstand”. Every Saturday was an invitation to a world filled with rock goddesses, pop princesses, AM-70 kings and soul queens. Her live performances are filled with the same raw, powerful emotion as inspired as the very performers Funkyjenn grew up watching. Powerhouse vocals, soaring guitars, honky tonk rhythms and Muscle Shoals soul is at the heart of Funkyjenn’s musical melange. She is a chugging rock and soul machine who harkens back to a day when live studio recording, analog machines and the smell of pressed vinyl ruled the Sunset Strip.

The reviews for Funkyjenn’s debut album, Rock And Roll Voodoo Queen, released in 2013, had her compared with such legends as Tina Turner, Janis Joplin, Etta James and Otis Redding.  Huffington Post says she’s “bursting with attitude, personality and sex appeal”. She also ended up on several Top 50 albums year-end lists and 5-Star album ratings worldwide.  In 2014 she released her highly-acclaimed Christmas album Sing To The Angels (where she is compared to early gospel Aretha Franklin) and 2015 she released two summer singles, “Oh Come Dancing”, a honky-tonk dancehall number and the mystical “Wonderland”, a song about the magical, musical communities that glitter the canyons of Los Angeles. Her new single, “Strings That Bend”, a melodic, sweeping ballad, will be released in Fall of 2015.

Her voice has also been featured on albums by The Mighty Stef (QOTSA producer + Them Crooked Vultures bassist Alain Johannes), Scott Mellis (Blind Melon bassist + producer Brad Smith), Grant Langston, Chris Laterzo & Buffalo Robe, The Damngivers, Stewart Eastham, Matt Barrow, The One Day On Earth Project, Fur Traders and more. She has performed in front of thousands at the Hollywood Bowl and historical venues all over the West Coast but her favorite gigs are the infamous backyard jams she hosts featuring Los Angeles’ finest musicians.
