Bio

Funkyjenn is a native daughter of the Golden West. Born in Hollywood to a show business family, she cut her teeth in musical theater, songwriter demo tapes and background vocals for many LA bands. Powerhouse vocals, soaring guitars, honky tonk rhythms and Muscle Shoals soul is at the heart of Funkyjenn’s debut album, “Rock And Roll Voodoo Queen”.

She is a chugging rock and soul machine that harkens back to a day when live studio recording, analog machines and the smell of pressed vinyl ruled the Sunset Strip. A Hollywood native, Funkyjenn grew up on the set of Dick Clark’s “American Bandstand”. Every Saturday was an invitation to a world filled with rock goddesses, pop princesses, AM-70 kings and soul queens. “Rock And Roll Voodoo Queen” is filled with the same raw, powerful emotion as inspired as the very performers Funkyjenn grew up watching.

With thick layers of instrumentation fronted by Funkyjenn’s power vocals, Rock And Roll Voodoo Queen is guitar-driven emotional ride through feelings of swoon-inducing love, dirty lust and heart-wrenching exits. This is a tightly produced, hook-laden rock album appealing to rock, soul, and pop fans alike.

Her voice has also been featured on albums by The Mighty Stef (QOTSA producer Alain Johannes), Scott Mellis (Blind Melon bass/producer Brad Smith), Alice Wallace, Chris Laterzo & Buffalo Robe, Stewart Eastham, Matt Barrow, The One Day On Earth Project, Fur Traders and more. She has performed in front of thousands at the Hollywood Bowl and smaller gigs in and around Los Angeles but she most loves singing with her friends at her infamous backyard jams!

Funkyjenn & The Fringe Benefits bring to you rockin soul jam blues-based classic rock of the 70’s with a new sound not soon to be forgotten. They’ve been heralded with the likes of the great Delaney & Bonnie, Tina Turner, The Black Crowes, Janis Joplin and The Tedeschi Trucks Band.
